info on edenpure space heater
Anyone own or use one of these? Research confirms 1000 watts is 1000 watts of electric no matter how you look at it. I can't see spending $200 and having my electric bill climb $60 a month. Do you think one of these are better than say an oil filled heater I used last winter to save a little on heating oil cost? Just paid here in W.Pa for oil $1100 for 335 gallons ...yikes. I had plans on a wood burner in the living room this winter but a needed septic system flushed those funds down the toilet.... Should I save my money on the edenpure? What about those propane indoor heaters?

I know nothing of that specific heater.
But, electric heat is about the most expensive heat there is.

I can tell you first hand as I own 2 of them including the latest generation and they are NOT worth the price they charge for new ones. The big unit which has a remote control will be suited for a large bedroom tops. I have no idea where the company said you could heat a whole house with 2 units and I say they are full of it. Yup, they use the same amount of electricity as a regular ribbon type heater but then shuts off when the copper plates are warmed up enough, though fan keeps running. But during winter time, it only takes 15 minutes to cycle the heat part again once the copper plates cool off and your no better than a conventional heater. I would say you would be better off with a wood stove if your house insurance allows it, mine doesn't. But I can install an outside burner enclosed and have it piped inside. |
