PA Traditional (Flintlock) deer season December 26-January 16, 2012

The PA flintlock deer season opens on the 26th. I have three flinters ready to go afield. My .45 caliber T/C Hawken will be stoked with 245 grain Maxis. The .50 smoothbore T/C Hawken will be stoked with roundball or #6 shot as the late grouse and rabbit season runs concurrently with deer season. Last is the .54 Hawken stoked with roundball.

I will wear my Hudson's Bay coat since we are not required to wear Fluorescent Orange in the Traditional deer season. I hope for snow because I have two pairs of snowshoes and think snowshoes would be a nice touch to the hunt in the big woods. Since 1996, I have not ever seen another flintlock hunter afield. I also carry my 'hawk afield in case of need.
