I know this is an older post but I think a cool dry place laying down unstrung would work fine...at least It has with the ole Bear longbow from my dad of yrs ago and the one my Uncle gave me...I also know never keep them in a hot place...esp under tensions...as a friend of mine can contest to..keeping his compound in the trunk of his car while at work one day..glue melted between laminates and it looked like a strung crossbow when he opened the trunk..even in the back seat of your car when hot out..costly.
