Memorial Day

In a few days we will observe Memorial Day 2012. Our troops have really done us proud since 9-11. It is too bad that they must come home to the mess the economy is in, but..... a bad economy is not near as bad as a 7.62x39 fired from behind every bush, rock or mud hut from everywhere they have been deployed.

Hey guys, great job!

The rest of us old guys can give or take a salute as well.

Amen!

How to expand on what Rapier said???

Well the only thing I can ad is from one old Vet to all the Young Men and Women doing the duty today.

Well done and thank you.

For the others that have made the ultimate sacrifice,

Memorial Day is not enuff for the loss of so many wonderful men and women who gave all for us and this country. May you all be remembered this weekend and the Lord watch over your memories and families.

Thanks to all

Rapier,

Excellent post. This weekend the Bucktails will participate in the Blossburg, PA Coal Festival Parade. We will end up in the town cemetary firing a rifle salute to veterans, after our buglar plays Taps. I am a veteran as are most of my company.

I was never in the uniformed service of my country. I guess it is because my age put me between "conflicts". I always make sure I have the flag in the holder by my front porch to honor those who did serve in uniform, especially my brother, uncle and my son.
I almost feel guilty but never did anything to evade serving. I did spend my life in the civilian service to my country.

Being in uniform during the Nam era I thank God every day I stand upright and remember a lot of my friends and fellow service member that aren't here anymore. I think of my father and uncles who served in the big one. Thankfully we only lost one member of our family and extended family during this time. I am thankful that the country now stands behind our military unlike my time.
