Thumbs up

My 'Malwarebytes' NEVER finds anything bad. Like a watchdog that's asleep all the time.
I had been using the free version of AVG, but then got a weird 'virus' that caused up to three audio tracks to play over anything I tried to listen to. Seemed like snippets of online news feeds. Would keep repeating..... made tryimg to watch a video impossible!
I went through heck trying to track it down. Finally ordered and downloaded the full-boat version of AVG - finally knocked it out!
AVG does find the nasties. It updates each morning to stay as current as possible.
AVG has a PC Tune-up program that helped me disable a LOT of unneccesary garbage that Windoze runs, slowing things down. My PC runs like a Porche now, instead of being bogged down. Makes my online experience much more enjoyable.
Getting control back on my own machine has cost me some bucks, but now I call the shots! I'm less worried about the creepy-crawlies invading now.

There are a bunch of decent anti malware programs, and, in my experience, no one program gets all the bad stuff.
Malwarebytes, Spywareblaster,Superantispyware, Spybot, CCcleaner, are all ones I've used with good success. I'm sure there are others.
BTW, use these in addition to a good antivirus program, and a firewall.
If you're having problems that one or more of the above programs don't solve, go to : www.securitytango.com and follow their instructions. Security Tango is a rather laborious process, but it's also very thorough.
