Old S&W K-22
Picked up a pre Model 17 today. Nice old 5 Screw Smith, ser. no. range 17000, serial no. on the grips matches the gun, old diamond style. Proberly 85-90%, locks up, smooth action. I have a thing for the old 5 screw models, have an N frame in 357 (27), old M&P (10), Combat Masterpiece (15) and know the K22 (17).. All of these are prior to model numbers. I've always admired the workmanship in these Smiths, to me they are the best. Going to shoot it in the morning with different ammo and then the squirrels better look out.

Also have a 17-2 with me to try out too. I know what you're saying buckhunter about loveing it, old S&Ws are great handguns. Almost afraid to shoot the 17-2, what if I like it also? Does a 73 yr. old need two of them? Easier to pass up as it is not a 5 Screw, but still an old one and a pair would be nice.

popplecop,
I also like OLD S&W revolvers because they were works of craftsmanship and art. I like Old Colt automatics for the same reason. Nice find. I never pass up an old Colt auto or Smith revolver. I cannot decide which will go in the box with me. Adam

Well took both out and shot them this morning, little cold and windy. Wish I'd have left the 17-2 home, now I'm going to buy that one too. Getting old and foolish in my old age and enjoying the heck out of it.

The K-22 is a very nice gun as are the early 17s. You might try the CCI Mini Mags if you have some or the Federal Classics by whatever name they are called now.

Usually have about 15 or so different boxes of 22 cartridges for test firing. Got cut short today, snow and rain. Hope to get back out tomorrow. Been haveing good luck with CCI Sub Sonics and with the Rem. ones too. When I get to a Ganders or such pick up any new .22rfs I come accross for trying out.

I like your idea of solving problems of decision, just buy both.
