Tuesday Score

Score! Yesterday I drove out to an old guy's house to look at a few items he had for sale, he was moving. I bought his B tank oxy acetylene torch set, with 4 full bottles, an all steel, wheeled cart, regulators, 25 ft of hose on the hose rack on the cart and 3 tips (one adjustable, one cutting and one heat). Plus I bought an "as new" 30 gal commercial parts washer, with steel hinged cover, with 15 gallons of mineral spirits and explosion proof light, all for $130. I did not even argue, just paid and left, singing.

Yesterday it got better when I discovered what the parts washer is, a Safety Kleen, 30gal drum, solvent cleaner with a large filter system. It also came with three solvent brushes including the flow through handles with a flex hose to be hooked up to the nozzle. I had no idea that they cost so much! Good grief, they run upwards of $K new, it is better to be lucky than good, sometimes.

But as an insurance broker who insures moving and storage companies, I understand how this happened. The old guy sold his house and the movers were coming and would not take any flammable containers on their trucks. So yesterday was moving day, and I hit the owner the day before. Just being in the right place at the right time. I took the torch set to a welder to have him go through it for me, to check it out top to bottom.
