Wow Idiots are starting to back off!!!!
Just checked results of an online auction I have been watching.
500 round bricks of 22 lr sold for around $55 this week instead of the $75 or $80 they have been selling for. I hope the fools that bought the $80 stuff have fun shooting the over priced stuff they bought. Better yet get stuck with it if the figured they would gouge some one. I got talking to a guy selling ammo at a flea market last week. He thought that the 35 cent whosale increase my gun shop owner paid on the 50 round 22 LR he just got in was way out of line. I did not see any 22 lr on his table to see if he was gouging on it. |

I paid $40 at Dick's a few weeks. Figured that might be as good as it gets.

I think I may have already posted this but here goes again.
A freind that owns a sport shop finaly got some 22 lr in a month ago. His whosale cost had gone up only 35 cents per 50 rd box from when he was able to get the last ones before this crap all started. That is all he uped the price from the previous retail. So that should mean only $3.50 a brick increase. I have no clue what they were before the PANIC. |

I expect the price to level out considerably higher than pre-Second Emmaculate Deception levels. Remember, pre-2008 price was less than $9 a 550 bulkpack box. After the First Immaculate Deception, once the gouging was complete and prices dropped back, they evened out at an average of $20 a bulkpack box. They will do the same this time. Expect the final shakedown to be around $35 to $40 a box. If it's lower I will be mildly surprised.

In 2008, I never saw "less than $9 a bulk pack of 550 rounds of .22 ammo." I save my old boxes and my nearest determination is in the $12-$15 range. In 2012 it was $21.00 at my local Walmart.

in 2005 I could buy 550 rounds of federal 22lr hp in a zip rip top box at walmart for $8.88. By 2008 I think Adam was right I think it was up in the $12+ range around here.

I agree with these folks
In 2008, I paid $8.96 for bulk pack of 550 rounds of Federal .22 l.r. ammo at Wal-Mart. Now the shelves are bare so the old price is a moot point. All the best...

All you can hope for is that the hoarders and gougers get stuck with their over bought, powder, bullets, primers, brass and 22 LR ammo. A pox upon them all.
Back in October I went by Wally World and bought each of the 5 grandchildren a 500 round brick of 22 LR for a Christmas present, never dreamed it would be a 75-80 buck present. But WW was selling the double box, two bricks in a plastic wrap, for a little over half what two bricks would cost. Funny thing is I did not buy one for myself! Ed

Today at the Mansfield, PA Walmart they unpacked and placed on the shelf 30 Winchester .22 bulk packs of 555 rounds of hollow point LR ammo for $23.96 per each. I got two and another fellow bought two. There were 26 "bricks" of .22 LR ammo still on hand when I left the store.

I just got done checking the two online auctions in Michigan. One had only two listings for 22 lr and those was for 100 rds of self defence stuff.
The other site had no 22 lr listed at all. There was some other ammo listed but I did not pay attention to what that was. |

I recently was finally able to get in on some orders for .22 ammo I had placed 'notifies' on at MidwayUSA. First, some CCI Maximag for half the price the locals wanted - I ordered 500 rounds.
Then a month later I got notified of some CCI Minimag in stock - I ordered the maximum allowed five 100-rd packs for a total of $50, shipping included. So, I am now a 'happy camper'. Got the ammo brand I prefer - or more correctly that most of my rimfire rifles prefer! I'm glad I got my 'Smartphone' finally - both notifies came during work and I was able to jump on them. Had I waited til I got home to my PC, I'd have lost out. That happened several times! Midway's "notify" is an excellent tool. They have notified me of other brands - Remington and Federal - being temporarily available, but I am satisfied for now.
