Bought a new press
For some unknown reason I bought a new Redding T-7 Turret press. Was at the state skeet shoot in Casper Wy. After I got done shootin on Saturday..I went to the local Sportsman's warehouse. Just lookin around. Y'all know how it is..ya just haveta look. Picked up a pound of the Alliant MP300 to try in the 410 ..and mag handgun loads..a couple hundred 55 gr Hornady .224 bullets for a friend..and then I spied the T-7 Redding. Been lusting after one for some reason. And since I sold a Mec 9000G for a little more than the T-7 and felt flush(with money) I got the darn thing. I haven't loaded anything on it yet. This thing is awesome..It has weight and it cycles perfectly. Reminds me of loaders from the past. Not too heavy but feels solid. Some of the presses made these days load fine but they just feel junky to me. The new RCBS RC IV is ok I guess but just doesn't have the feel of the older Rockchucker..and then it is made in China. This Redding is made in the US with US steel. Novel idea huh?! Anyway..once I use it a bit I will post a blurb about it. Think it is gonna be perfect for my mag pistol loads. As for the skeet shootin..Well you know you had a bad weekend when your best score is in the 410 bore..and it was only a 95...LOL!

Heck a 95 is still a score to be proud of! I would love to see a pic of that press. As for the old presses being better. I still have a very old RCBS press I got from a buddy of mine who used to own a gun shop before he "retired" and moved out to big sky country....

Wasn't too unhappy with the 410 score. The others?? They sucked. But I did shoot the 12 ga in 45 MPH winds. The 410 we shot in wind up to about 20MPH. Casper does blow a bit. Windy shooting is hard. Even for game. I once shot ducks back in Maryland in a Nor'easter. Blew up to 80MPH. I shot a duck coming with the wind about 15 yds high Killed him Daid.. I mean folded right up..and he landed more than a hundred yds downwind. Pretty pintail drake too.

I just loaded up a batch of 357 using a single stage press. Really reimforced the need (and want) for a progressive one. I will get that passed thru the commander this weekend only if she can go without buying new shoes for a couple of weeks.

BH. If ya get a progressive... seriously...get a Dillon. They are a good loader and you can take the powder measure off and weigh every charge if ya want..but you won't unless you load right to the max charges. And to be honest.. I have a Lee classic cast turret press and for every day loads it does good with the Lee powder measure on top.. All for under a couple hundred bucks..without dies. I load my 44 specials on it and use a 4 die set of Lees. I also put one of the Lee primer feeds on it. Not bad at all. But not a Dillon Course I load my pistol ammo(38, 9mm 45 auto) on a Dillon Super 1050 as well as my 223 ammo. My Imelda has more shoes than I have guns..if ya count a pair as 2. I couldn't believe it yesterday. She took 4 pairs to Goodwill. But she will buy more to replace 'em. I'm going to a gun show tomorrow to try to find a few so I can catch up to her shoe count. LOL
