New year and new fun

Well it's a new year and we be having some new fun. Have dona quite a few gun shows and goin round the the porn..er I mean pawn shops lately. Went toa show up in Bozeman Mt. Bought a load of little stuff..dies bullets presses powder etc. Nother fellow and I bought a few guns. We got two M-70's. One was a pre War Hornet and a post war Hornet. The pre war was re-chambered to K-Hornet and had never been drilled for a scope. It did have a scope mounted at one time but not when we bought it. Paid a bit much but it was kinda nice. Beautiful wood. The other was a post war Hornet that had been refinished..pretty well too. Bore was good in that one and as it was a later gun was drilled and tapped and had a Lyman Alaskan on it. Bought it to keep. Paid about a grand but since I bought a lot of stuff from the guy for one price don't really know exactly. I got a load of dies from the fellow including a set of new 25-20 Single Shot. Never see 'em and also got a nice Easton Big Giant reloading press. Kinda rare. We have sold the Pre war gun for a nice profit so will end up with the one I have for next to nothing. Primers seem to be coming back into the loop as there were quite a few at the shows and Cabela's had a bunch yesterday..at a heck of a high price though. Powder is still scarce.AR rifles are back in force at normal prices. 22 ammo is still scarce..and supposed to be getting worse. We'll see. Nobama is up to more monkey business on guns so we'll have to keep an eye on those people for a lot longer. Hope y'all have a great new year. Still looking for a decent S&W 57 4 inch gun..if ya happen to see one

Thumbs up

Still hunting! Mostly pheasants though. The freezer is full of venison thanks to the kiddos. I helped a little too

My 8 month old lab has been quite the hunting dog. After the first week of field training I figured I'd keep a log just to see how good she was. As of 2 weeks ago she was up to 95 flushes on pheasants and 8 grouse. Not counting a number of birds that didn't go up right in front of her nose. She sure makes upland bird hunting fun. Heck of all the dogs I've ever owned, all their lives combined, have never put up that many birds in PA....We normally have our limit in 15-30 mins. Course late season she has to work a little harder, so it may take her an hr or so to find two...but she's still finding them.

I have until Feb 22, would love for her to break 100 flushes her first season, and the rate she's goins, we should have that in about 1 to 2 more outings!

Santa bought me a new Grizzly Front rest for 1000 yard benchrest. In the process of acquiring a new bench gun (building or buying). That will be starting up before I know it.

No island trips this summer...going to build a garage, so I booked a beach house in the OBX last night.

Should have enough preference points for my Wyoming antelope hunt with dad this season...will be applying for that soon

That's personal...when it comes to business, well work is keeping me busy. Should be heading to Kansa here in Feb. Been looking forward to that as if NW PA isn't cold enough in Feb, we have to drill wells in Kansas and head there in the coldest month of the year, lol
