AR bolt failure.

NEA AR-15 bolt failed on me today...Apparently its pretty common for this breed of AR...and apparently they are really good about replacing the faulty part....so we will see I suppose....

Been happy otherwise....Except it shoots minute of barn door.......LOL.

captain2k,

So, WHAT failed and why? Were you shooting factory ammo or reloads? Just what was the bolt failure all about?

I was shooting factory loads....I have no idea what caused the failure...but two of the lugs broke off...and as you can see the metal is really poor looking....

That is good that they stand behind the product. Odd that it shoots large groups because almost any AR will shoot MOA.

Got 1lb of CFE223 and 1lb of BLC2 and 1000 62gr fmj coming this week. Time to build some AR ammo! Still waiting for the new bolt to arrive...

Any favorite recipes or hints for AR loads?

As much as i appreciate that offer. Any AR parts are ITAR controlled. Licensing and export permits etc. Bolts are cheap up here anyway. Thanks tho!

Dan,

I recently was looking at a gun catalog, I forget the name, but under some innocent items was a "56" which said on the order form page, "Not shippable to Canada. " I was surprised because I am talking magazines, bipods, even muzzlebrakes....

That is why the election of 2016 is so very important for our gun rights. Hillary will make us like Australia where pump shotguns and semi-auto rifles and shotguns are banned for honest people. Let us hope more than 50% of the eligible voters VOTE in November.

As Ben Franklin said, "A free people can vote themselves into slavery, but no slave can vote himself free....."
