Another weekend at the Show
Did a small gun show last weekend. It was not a commercial success... at least not for me. Or most of the other vendors. Money is tight out here as the economy is based on energy... and Obama and his minions want to do away with energy use... so it seems. Anyway. I did find a few good deals. The most odd thing I bought was a blown up" gun. It was a 1917 S&W revolver. Basic gun was ok but it had 4 bullets stuck in the bore with the barrel blown out to the left. Got it for 50 bucks..with the intent to re-barrel it. I've never bought a blown up gun before LOL. Had it for about 10 mins and a fellow came along that just HAD to have it. Bought a few guns but nothing spectacular. Took a trade on a Colt New Service. Got a Winchester 64 in 32WS and a Manhurin PPK in 22 plus a little cash. Also bought am new in box Ruger BH Convertible with a 4 5/8 inch bbl for 375...which is a smoking deal... and for some odd reason I bought a Savage 110 rebarreled to 8mm-06 Ackley Improved... Got dies brass loaded ammo and rifle for 250 bucks. Like I needed it...but evidently I didn't as someone bought it from me. Sold a bit of small stuff powder primers and reloading items. I did buy 2 RCBS 10-10 scales for 45 buck for the pair. All in all it was probably one of the worst shows I have ever done. But so many are out of work. Gillette is a town of about 40,000 and 10,000 are out of work. People were buying ammo and components so they can hunt some food I guess. Only really good thing was getting the call from the meat Locker Saturday... We and the neighbor raised a beef critter and it was ready to pick up... Just the right time as we just got the freezer cleaned out and ready for the critter. Got 'nuff for 2 years. Esp with all the elk meat.
Anyway am up to 9 lever guns now. Never been a fan of them. But do like the 64s 71s etc. I also bought a S&W M-29-2 44 mag..in the wooden presentation box. Long barreled one. Made in 1973 and in at least 98% condition. I like S&Ws. I don't NEED anymore.
