well for $17 it wont exactly break the bank, but i doubt it's more than simply a piece of hard rubber.
The BOSS system browning uses is supposed to allow you to "tune" your barrel to the resonance(SP?) of different types of ammo, however it is considerably more complex, or at least i think it is. Rocky, Treedoc, Andy or one of the other gentlemen may know alot more about this.
