16 #6’s through a strong 4” diameter “Tuna Can” at 40 yards
GM 1” x 33” .62cal Flint smoothbore drop-in barrel & TC Hawken stock
80grns Goex 3F
Two Oxyoke wonderwads
1+5/8oz #6’s

Well, it sure looks like you found your turkey load for this season!

I plan on using my 12 gauge drop-in barrel for the .54 Renegade. I also plan on using my .50 smooth barrel on the .50 flint Hawken stock.

Great! Just out of curiosity, did you do a velocity test on that load? Do you think that load might be safe in my Cabela's trade musket? Might have to give that one a try.......

BTW: Guess what we used for penetration tests for turkey loads.......Turkey necks! (save 'em from thanksgiving; nobody eats 'em anyway! )

I got the .62cal load from Bob Spencer's website (below)...an excellent article by one of traditional Muzzleloading's credible, experienced people...the whole articles is good read too.

The idea of using a couple of Oxyoke Wonderwads is just one that I decided to try and it worked fine.
